Moon – Achlys: Atmosphere Control

Hello all. I hope you had a peaceful and restorative Christmas break. I’m back at work today and returning to the Moon–Achlys material, where a number of commonalities are beginning to crystallise and now merit closer examination. I am working from the Moon conjunct Achlys dataset and, rather than drawing...

  1. Outstanding! Really beginning to grasp Moon/Achlys. I realize Achlys and Orcus are different beasts, but both being Hadeans there is some overlap. I have a peregrine Orcus conjunct the IC and some of what you shared here resonates at a person level. More so the Emily Dickinson case study and her retreat from society. Her quotes hit home as well. Thanks so much for this. You are profoundly gifted in articulating these Hadean energies.

    1. I’m especially glad the Moon–Achlys material is beginning to reveal itself, because it’s a subtle and easily misunderstood terrain, and your instinct to notice the overlap with Orcus is a very good one. They are different beasts, as you say, but they both work in the same subterranean register where survival, integrity, and emotional truth are forged under pressure.

Orcus on the IC is a powerful placement, and a demanding one. It often speaks to early environments where integrity was tested at a very deep level, and where retreat, withdrawal, or inward fortification became necessary for survival. In that sense, it makes complete sense that Dickinson’s withdrawal and her fierce inner life would resonate – her retreat wasn’t a failure to live, but a way of preserving something essential that could not survive exposure. That is where Moon–Achlys and Orcus are in sync: both recognise that sometimes the only way to remain whole is to step back from the world.

I’m very grateful for your engagement with this work and for the care with which you’re meeting it. These Hadean energies demand seriousness and honesty, and it’s conversations like this that make the research feel alive and worthwhile.
