Good afternoon my friends,
Here is a quick run through of the vocation crib sheet that we will be working with over the coming days. I hope to have a new post ready after the weekend, in which we are going to discuss the shift from tenants to rulers in more detail, and get under the rule to find the principle, which is where the true value of insight can be found, as always!
Row 1: Tenants: this should include any major planets that are in the 2nd, 6th and 10th houses respectively. I would include here Sun through Neptune with Pluto, Orcus, and Ixion.
Row 2: Asteroids on cusp: any asteroid that falls from 1° before to 3° after the house cusp. There are a few caveats here so:
- You will need an accurate time to make sense of this, since in general 1 degree of arc corresponds to around 4 minutes of time. If you have a very accurate time, or have rectified your chart, then you can be more confident. What I would say in general is that you will be able to have a feel for this. You will know what makes sense and what seems to leave you cold, so trust your instincts here as well.
- The 10th house is the only fixed cusp of the earth houses. To determine which house system you use is a longer discussion, but in general terms, I use Placidus. As a general trick for self-assurance, try switching between Placidus and Koch, see which planets change house. Then ask yourself which house feels more right for you. So, for example, if I switch to Koch, my Mercury changes from the 5th to the 4th house, and 5th (Placidus) feels better to me. My North Node switches from 11th to 10th, and again, this feels correct to me, so Placidus is overall a better fit for my subjective experience.
Row 3: Natural ruler in: this should delineate the placement of each house’s natural ruler by sign and house. So, Venus, Hygiea and Saturn, which sign, and house are these in?
Row 4: Idiosyncratic ruler in: again, the sign and house, this time for each ruler according to your chart. So, if Pisces is on the cusp of the 2nd, then Neptune will be the ruler.
Row 5: Ruler of the MC aspects. I failed to stipulate that this row, and the subsequent row refer specifically to the ruler of the MC, as we are studying the vocation specifically. But again, this is an important observation, and we will go into this in depth in the next discussion. Every house will follow this same pattern, so the 6th house tenants will tend to describe, work, habits and lifestyle factors in the first half of life, and in the 2nd half of life, the ruler will ‘take charge’. Use the usual aspect criteria 8° conjunction, 6° opposition, square and trine, and 2° sextile. You are welcome to use quintiles and inconjuncts, and even semi and sesquisquares if you like and you find them useful. Aspect patterns involving the ruler(s) will also tell stories.
Row 6: Ruler of the MC asteroids: Any major aspects between the idiosyncratic ruler and asteroids is worthy of consideration. This does not mean that asteroid aspects to the natural ruler (i.e. Saturn) is not also relevant, and you might wish to consider that too, but I hope you get the picture.
Here then is the same table filled out for Clint Eastwood. I’ll attach his chart file (Clint-Eastwood) so you can follow the correspondences. Couple of smooth observations here, the Mercury-Orcus conjunction explains so much, and asteroid Actor on the MC. All good there then.

If you have any questions, please ask,
Looking forward to this study with you all,
