Something remarkable is going on in the heavens right now, but it’s not generally known about. There’s the eclipse of course, at 6 Gemini – Sagittarius, but this actually forms a Grand Cross with Chiron’s current opposition to Orcus. Chiron – Orcus is the wound of integrity of course, and in the Virgo and Pisces... Continue Reading →
The Astrology of Oblivion
What a delight Neptune is, with his glorious, undermining illusions. A few months ago, somebody asked me to look at the case of an aging relative who was becoming ‘confused and forgetful’. We talked about it for a while, science, in the form of a kindly, but ultimately noncommittal doctor had no answer to the problem, nor any advice it seemed, except to “monitor the situation”. The fear was, naturally enough, Alzheimer’s.
Saturn in Scorpio: Time to Get Real…
While Saturn travelled through Libra, we were tasked with new learning. Saturn is always about learning as evidenced by the fact that wherever he resides in your chart is a place where you are especially under-prepared. If you have Saturn in Libra therefore, you start out with a difficulty in relating in a mature and... Continue Reading →
The September 2012 Full Moon
Any full Moon represents either the culmination, or we might say fruition of a relationship, or the end of it. There is much talk about lunar cycles and how they ought to affect us as individuals, but rarely is there a recognition of the basic implication of Sun and Moon when it is discussed. Sun... Orcus, ToC
I've been asked a couple of times for the contents of the book; here it is: Table of Contents Acknowledgements. Part I Mythology. The Swearing of Oaths. Orcus the Implacable. The Etruscan Orcus and the Grim Reaper. Orcus the Wild Man. Hubris. Imprisonment. Stacy Keach. Mike Tyson. Terry Waite. Nelson Mandela. Punishment. Unconscious Programming. Dehumanisation.... Pluto’s Wealth
A seemingly vast number of people have presented me with the question: can Pluto be a good thing? I approached this question in my last article and made the seemingly unequivocal answer of ‘no’. Whilst, upon initial examination, this is as much as the topic needs, there are of course other nuances to consider. The... Continue Reading →
Decommissioning Pluto
Most often I am asked, "is there any circumstance in which Pluto can be good?" Or some approximation (evaluative or otherwise) thereof. I think this misses the point almost entirely and betrays a fundamental misconception about the intrinsic nature of Pluto. Pluto is unconscious domination energy. You can ask then, is there any way in which nuclear material can be good? because this is fundamentally the same question. Let us examine it just a little and uncover its innate paradoxes.
On Truth…
Hermeneutics is the study of spiritual thought, usually through literature, as an integral facet of the search for meaning. We all search for meaning, although we invariably look for it in different places: for some our car gives life meaning, for others their job does the trick and for a few, meaning is found within... Kypria
I have a new occasional poetry project, for those that enjoy such things, named Kypria. It has a metaphysical slant, and is no mere vanity. Major new article on the way here too, sometime this weekend I hope.
On Shame
Many years ago I knew a man who went by the name of Pete Woolly-Hat. I have no clue as to his birth name, but he was so known because he wore a woolly-hat wherever he went, rain or shine, winter or summer. He was a musician and probably (at that time) in his thirties,... Continue Reading →
Apollo, Cassandra and the Archetypally Dysfunctional Marriage
Possibly, of all the many deities described within the pantheons of mythology, Apollo had the broadest remit. He was known as Apollo by both the Romans and the Greeks, which in itself was rather unusual, traditionally the Greek nomenclature was invariably altered, Romanised (although some later Roman poets did refer to him as Phoebus.) He... Continue Reading →
A Neptunian Interlude
For anyone interested in such things, I've taken up my camera again, after replacing certain equipment stolen retained by my ex. I aim to keep a regular record of shots over here: http://jemnealphotography.wordpress.com. Please do go and look and leave a comment. Normal astrological service will be resumed here at the Chirotic Journal very soon.
Feeling blueprints…
Transit theory. Actually, let's talk for a minute about building a house. Let us say, for the sake of argument that you decide that you want to build your dream home. You probably have some vague ideas about how it will look, about the various features and styles of decor, about the layout. You're quite... Continue Reading →
What do you want?
Here is a list of all the topics I want to write about but just don't have the time, so, if you have a view then vote for one and I'll write up the most popular choice. How to work out what will most likely happen under any given transit. The process is a lot... Continue Reading →
Orcus, Vulcanus, Saturn-Pluto and Edwina Currie
Back in the late 80s I lived a rather feral existence as a busking, itinerant astrologer (of sorts), and I hung with the hippies, bad companies, clattered haphazardly about the long, dusty summers and tried not to get too embroiled in life. They were the good old, bad old days. Unsurprisingly, in those days, I... Continue Reading →
Venus, Mars and Neptune, with a little Zeus for good measure…
Today I would like to look in some detail at the various dynamics of the relating planets – Venus and Mars – in their applications to Neptune. Whilst not nearly as abrasively uncomfortable as Venus and Mars to Pluto connections, this blend does create its own unique difficulty and with understanding, there is certainly enormous... On the Employment of Politicians
Imagine that you are a king or queen that rules over a vast and fertile country. On the day of your coronation your subjects are happy, prosperous and the land is blessed. Like all good monarchs you desire to do your very best for your country and so, recognising your relative inexperience, you hire the... Continue Reading →
Describing the Indescribable
In my last post I discussed the problem with Mercury and made a case for something else. I would not wish to posit a specific astrological entity for the other awareness, it no doubt lies at the centre of your nativity, the place you are drawn to if you are prepared to suffer a little... Transits of Pluto: Kill or Cure…
It's absolutely no coincidence that Ben Franklin's famous line "in this world nothing is certain but death and taxes" speaks specifically to eighth house matters. Both death and taxes are ruled by Pluto, and to that list, I'd like to make an addition: in this world, nothing is certain but death, taxes and the hard... Continue Reading →
